GREGORIAN CHANT
The Gregorian chant is the chant of the Western Christian tradition: a corpus of melodies on sacred texts to be used in strictly liturgical, handed down orally first, then, starting from the 9th-10th century, in writing. In order to create such a vast repertoire, among numerous hypotheses, the most likely find within it elements related to liturgical repertoires used up believe me? the unification created by Charlemagne and primarily to antique Roman and Gallican Repertory. The fact is that when it came to light the oldest manuscripts, this repertoire was sung, almost identical, in a vast geographic area, coinciding with the Carolingian Empire, which includes much of Europe today.
In this sense, the Gregorian chant is arguably the first example of "unification of Europe": cultural, political or economic unification, even before confermataci the manuscript tradition of later centuries. Indeed, in this respect, one may rightly speak of European unity, well over a thousand years ago and European culture found in Gregorian chant a valuable witness.
The tradition of Gregorian chant, echoing the ancient patristic Exegetical tradition symbolized by a distinguished figure of Augustine, you add the immense patrimony of organ literature, in order to propose today to tools capable of enhancing the peculiarity of this sacred repertoire.
