Friday, September 29 , 2023, Roana will join the exciting initiative of the "Reading Marathon" that will take place throughout the Veneto Region. Organized by the Department of Culture of the Veneto Region in collaboration with various bodies and associations dedicated to the promotion of reading, this event was sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and has reached its seventh edition.
The "Reading Marathon" aims to spread the joy of reading in various contexts, including schools, libraries, bookstores, museums and even inside homes, involving educators, teachers, librarians, publishers, professional readers and enthusiasts, booksellers and reading groups. The main objective is to promote the practice of reading at all ages, from childhood to adulthood and the elderly.
The central theme of this year is "river literature" in its diverse and daring expressions, while collateral themes include the 60th anniversary of the tragic event of Vajont, the 60th anniversary of the publication of the famous book "Libera nos a Malo" by Luigi Meneghello and the centenary of the birth of one of the greatest Italian authors, Italo Calvino.
This year, Roana joins the initiative by organizing a special event at the Retirement Home on Friday 29 September at 10.00 am. Here, guests of the property will have the opportunity to listen to readings specially selected for them.
Among the participants, there will be the deputy mayor of Roana, Christian Vellar, and the councilor for Culture, Giulia Mosele, in collaboration with the Auser association of the Municipalities of Roana and Rotzo.
Councillor Giulia Mosele, an enthusiastic supporter of the event, underlined a fundamental concept: "Reading is the food of the mind". This statement contains a deep meaning: reading enriches the mind, helps the development of language and contributes to the expansion of individual culture. Reading is essential and the pleasure of listening to someone read is an invaluable experience.
Roana once again demonstrates its commitment to promoting the culture and well-being of its citizens of all ages, joining this wonderful initiative that celebrates the transformative power of reading.
