Canove di Roana, on the Plateau of the Seven Municipalities, on 22-23-24-25 April 2022 returns to celebrate with the traditional Festival of San Marco and Cuchi.
The event, skipped for two consecutive years due to the pandemic, is very much felt by the residents of the Plateau because April 25, the feast day for the anniversary of the Liberation is also that of San Marco, the patron saint of Canove.
It is a popular festival animated by stalls, markets and various entertainments for young people, adults and families with a heated food stand, where you can taste typical local dishes and listen to good live music.
Another fundamental element of this festival are the Cuchi, which constitute an ancient tradition on the Asiago plateau. The cuchi are typical handmade whistles built in terracotta, of every color and shape, and represent a symbol of love and friendship. The cuco, in fact, was brought as a gift by lovers to their beloved as a pledge of love.
For the entire duration of the Sagra di San Marco, these characteristic whistles can be purchased in the numerous stalls in Canove. There will be cuchi of all kinds, divided according to price, shape and colors. On some stalls there are also water cuchi, in the shape of a small vase, where blowing at the mouth you get a bubbling sound. Once you have purchased your whistle, everyone blows into it and the festival is filled with sounds: low, high, strong, weak, shrill, rhythmic like the song of the cuckoo.
The Sagra di San Marco is an event of particular importance and importance that attracts families and enthusiasts also from the plains of Vicenza. Don't miss it!
From 24 to 25 April the Festival of San Marco and Cuchi di Canove will be flanked by the 3rd edition of San Marcà, a rich market of crafts, curiosities and gastronomic specialties and, of course, of cuchi.
And until May 1st, to the delight of young people and children, there will also be the LUNA PARK!
