Canove di Roana, on the Plateau of the Seven Municipalities, is preparing to relive the magic of its traditional Festival of San Marco and Cuchi, which this year will take place over 7 days of celebration!
The celebrations will kick off on Saturday, April 20 , 2024, and then resume from Wednesday, April 24, until Sunday, April 28, and end on a high note on Tuesday, April 30 with the grand finale.
This event represents a moment of strong cohesion and identity for the community of the Plateau, as April 25th, in addition to being the anniversary of the Liberation, is the day dedicated to St. Mark, patron saint of Canove.
This popular festival, always very heartfelt and participatory, comes alive around markets, stalls and various entertainments capable of involving young and old, adults and families. To make it even more special, the traditional food stand, where the authentic flavors of the Plateau delight the palate of guests, and the evenings of live music.
And, to the delight of teenagers and children, there is also the FUNFAIR!
On Tuesday 25 April , the Festival of San Marco e dei Cuchi di Canove will also be accompanied by the 5^ edition of San Marcà, a rich market of handicrafts, curiosities and gastronomic specialties and, of course, of cuchi!
The cuchi, typical handcrafted terracotta whistles, of every color and shape, are an ancient tradition on the Asiago Plateau and represent a symbol of love and friendship. History and legend come together in the practice of giving the cuco as a sign of affection: a gesture of tenderness that evokes the custom of lovers to give these objects to their loved ones as a token of love.
During the Sagra di San Marco, it is possible to find cuchi for all budgets and tastes, from the most traditional to the particular water models, which emit a gurgling sound by blowing into the mouth.
With the purchase of cuckoos, everyone blows into them and the party is enriched with a polyphony of sounds: low, high, strong, weak, shrill, rhythmic like the cuckoo's song.
The Festival of San Marco e dei Cuchi is confirmed as an unmissable event for the Asiago Plateau, capable of attracting not only the local inhabitants but also numerous visitors from the nearby Vicenza plains.
