Chicca maralfa lo strano delitto delle sorelle bedin

Thursday, August 11, 2022, at the Forte Corbin in Treschè Conca di Roana, there will be a literary meeting with the writer Chicca Maralfa who will present her latest book: "The strange crime of the Bedin sisters", a novel set in Asiago, between current events and the Great War.

The event "Scrittori al Forte Corbin", organized in collaboration with the Libreria Giunti al Punto di Asiago, will start at 15:30 and is free of charge

"THE STRANGE CRIME OF THE BEDIN SISTERS"

Asiago, the Great War, the Vaia storm. A seemingly quiet community upset over the years by immense tragedies. It is in this context that Lieutenant Gaetano Ravidà conducts two investigations, one for affective reasons, the other for an ungovernable investigative instinct, in a plot that develops between present and past. After the failure of his marriage, Lieutenant Gaetano Ravidà, highly esteemed investigator of the Arma, left Puglia and moved to the north. To welcome him, the Carabinieri Station of Asiago, in the Vicenza plateau, theater of the bloodiest battles of the Great War. On the village, apparently quiet, the shadow of an old case never solved, dating back to seven years earlier, actually stretches: the brutal murder of the Bedin sisters, recently archived. Someone, covering the walls with poems by Silvia Plath, however, seems to urge the reopening of the investigation into a story that asks for justice. But it will not be only a case of chronicle of the past to test Ravidà's investigative skills. On the day of the Great Rogation (which everyone there calls Around the World), a procession that every year winds for thirty-three kilometers through the mountain paths and that involves the population of the area, another brutal crime will shake the quiet of the plateau, turning it into a storm. There is another case, however, that, together with the cold case of the Bedin sisters, asks for justice with the same urgency. Ravidá finds himself in these places also dealing with a personal story of collective scope. His grandfather fought in the 'Trapani Brigade', during the 'Spring Offensive', right on the Asiago plateau. And there he died, an unknown soldier like thousands of other young fighters. On the saddle of Mount Lémerle, during the filming of a History Channel documentary on the Great War, the mortal remains of an Italian soldier are found and Lieutenant Ravidà hopes, with all of himself, that they may belong to his grandfather, wanting to assure his father that his father has never known, a more worthy burial.

Chicca Maralfa was born and lives in Bari. A professional journalist, he is responsible for the press office of Unioncamere Puglia and the Chamber of Commerce of Bari. He has collaborated permanently for years with the "Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno", writing about culture and current affairs and for the specialized periodicals "Ciao 2001" and "Music". For Antenna Sud and Rete 4 (in the broadcast by Alessandro Cecchi Paone, Giorno per giorno) she dealt with black and white news. He made his debut in fiction in 2018 with the black comedy Festa al trullo, and in 2021 he published his first mystery, The Secret of Mr. Willer, a finalist for various literary awards.
