GOAL: Monte Cengio - Asiago plateau and the Seven Municipalities (VI)
The mule track perched overlooking the Valdastico, the tunnels and the legendary Salto del Granatiere, make this route one of the most evocative among our mountains. In May 1916 with the start of the Spring Offensive, the Italians were forced to retreat until they reached the edge of the Plateau.
Here the strenuous resistance of the Grenadiers of Sardinia slowed down the advance of the enemy towards the plain. Subsequently, the entire mountain was fortified by building tunnels and passages, overlooking the valley below, which today give us breathtaking views.
The work and sacrifice of the soldiers remains imprinted among these ledges that will give you a mountain of emotions.

DIFFICULTY: we assign a difficulty 3 on a scale from 1 (very easy) to 5 (challenging)
The route does not present particular technical difficulties, it is characterized by the presence of mountain paths, mule tracks, tunnels and some stretches of asphalt road, rarely busy. The mule track is located overlooking the Val d'Astico, the path is placed safely by the presence of handrails, but it is still exposed. The difference in altitude uphill is less than 350m.
TO TAKE WITH YOU: mountain boots, layered clothing suitable for the mountain climate, waterproof jacket, water for the duration of the excursion (at least 1 liter), possibly a small snack such as dried fruit, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, front pile.
COST: 15€ for the guided excursion per person, 5€ for children under 15 years

It starts on foot from the meeting place. There are no services (WC - refreshment) at the starting point.
