THE SKYSCAPE PROJECT

In 2021 Asiago becomes a stellar tourist destination thanks to the Skyscape project,funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Interreg V-A Italy – Austria 2014-2020, of which it is a partner together with Cornedo all'Isarco (BZ), Talmassons (UD) and the Tiroler Umweltanwaltschaft, an Austrian government body aimed at defending and protecting the environment.
This project provides, in particular, the development of astro-tourism understood as a tourist product linked to the observation of the sky. At the same time, the Skyscape project aims to carry out an awareness campaign on the theme of light pollution,which increasingly represents a threat to man and the environment, as well as preventing the observation of the starry sky as a collective heritage to bepreserved.
That of placing the observation of the sky as an attractive element for tourists and enthusiasts is a road already traveled by some places, both Italian and foreign, with excellent results. From this point of view, Asiago and the whole territory of thePlateau of the Seven Municipalities have such characteristics to be able to place themselves as an astro-tourist destination of excellence. Not only the remoteness from the large urban centers (combined with the ease in reaching the territory), but also the presence of two of the most important astronomical and astrophysical observatories present on Italian soil.
Tour operators have enthusiastically welcomed the Skyscape project: there are numerous initiatives organized throughout the summer (and not only). Among these "themed" hiking trips,both in the mountains and near the center, guided tours at the Observatory with specific activities for adults and children, the visits "From the stable to the stars" organized by the "Patrizio Rigoni" Naturalistic Museum. In addition to these, of particular importance are two events:
- 21/08/2021 at 21:00 Piazza Duomoan appointment that has now become part of the Asiaghese summer tradition that provides at 21:00 a live connection with the astronomers present at the Astrophysical Observatory of Cima Ekar and, starting at 22:00, a parade and shows through the streets of the center;
- 09/09/2021 at 21:00 Teatro Millepini "Turn off a light, turn on a star": informative evening on light pollution with the participation of Dr. Andrea Bertolo of ARPAV - Regional Observatory of Light Pollution and Dr. Stefano Ciroi of the University of Padua. Following lucio Gardin's show "Laughing even with the Moon";

For both evenings participation is free with reservations required at the Asiago IAT (for contacts click on the buttons below).

And finally, in Asiago the cuisine is also stellar, with two restaurants awarded the prestigious Michelin Star: the Stube Gourmet and La Tana Gourmet, where you can enjoy real culinary refinements.
In short, everything is ready to let guests know the Asiaghese territory in a new light, that of the clear celestial vault full of treasures to be discovered.
