Nicoletta ConfaloneBetween music and story with "Chasing a shadow: Giuliani-Guglielmi Emilia (1813-1850) with Nicoletta Confalone and Federica Artuso, Sunday December 29, 2013

Roan culture & music offers, on the occasion of the Christmas holidays, a very special event, which will take place Sunday, December 29 at 21.00 hours at the Council Chamber of the Town Hall in Canove.

With "Chasing a shadow: Giuliani-Guglielmi Emilia (1813-1850), a bicentennial subheading" Culture & music will accompany viewers, between music and story, discovering life and compositions for guitar, never performed by 800, Emilia Garcia (1813-1850).

This is also a bicentennial, but quite different from two inescapable anniversaries which dominate this year, those of Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi.
Emilia Garcia Elisabeth is the daughter of one of the guitarists-greatest composers of all time, Mauro Giuliani, protagonist of the viennese musical life at the time of Beethoven.
It was always known that Emilia was in turn a virtuosa of the six strings, but his short life and certainly not by primadonna had so far passed over in silence his activity as a concert artist, and, especially, his compositions.

Things have changed when, a few years ago, the guitarist and musicologist based exhibition Nicoletta Chandru has rediscovered the Biblioteca Marciana in Venice the first nineteenth-century editions of six Belliniane, written by Emilia and never performed in modern times, and decided to focus his research on this forgotten artist.

Studies of the Confalone materialised in articles published by the prestigious specialist magazine Il Fronimo, and the imminent release of the opera omnia of Emilia Federica Artuso Garcia, to American publishing company ADI Editions; These are eleven valuable opera numbers, which show us atrue artist, able to go beyond the narrow role of followers of his genial father.

In fact, Emilia has persevered to do what I knew and wanted, despite being a woman, in a time which recognized the talent of the women only to singers, and despite now Macaw's decline in population trends of the guitar, wind-swept romantic, musical instruments for a power untenable for his six strings.

So this story-concert promises to be of great interest, not least because the Confalone, that romance will tell and emblematic life of Emilia Garcia, you will join a young and brilliant musician vicentina, Federica Artuso, who trained at the scuola di Stefano Grondona, one of the most charismatic guitarists of our time.

The Artuso will, for the first time in modern times, two of the six Belliniane, apart from themost innovative work of Emilia Garcia, those Six Preludes, op. 46, which, although already published by time, are so far gone unnoticed and are rarely performed by guitarists.

The concert will be followed by a small reception and, as always, admission is free.

The next event will be a concert by the pianist Edward Brotto, scheduled for Friday, January 3.
