THE GREAT WAR IN PLATEAU
The Plateau Guides offer historical-naturalistic excursion to Forte Verena, Altopiano di Asiago, Saturday- EVENING September 26, 2015
From Strong Verena, on 24 May 1915, left two shots ringing, metallic, lacerating that crossed the sky, singing the battle cry! The Italy entered the war against former ally Austria.
The Spitz Verle responds and defended the Fort Verena firing 20 shots but nothing too short shots not reaching the plateau, ruler of the place up there, too!
The situation at Fort Verle wasn't among the best and Giebermann after about 130 shots from 280 mm gave the order to abandon the Fort. But there was actually the need to make such a choice?
THE EXCURSION PROGRAM:
Meeting scheduled at 17.00 from station Bar at the entrance of the ice stadium of Asiago;

Dinner at RIFUGIO VERENA costs 20 € per person (1°, 2° flat plate + mixed vegetables + water + wine + dessert + coffee + amaro-extra charge)
DRESS CODE:
Mountain or trekking boots, long pants, anorak, Cap and sweatshirt, onion-like clothing.
RECOMMENDED ACCESSORIES:
Trekking poles and battery with battery replacement.

The Association "Plateau" first Association of guides of the plateau, consists of local guides who operate on the territory of Altopiano dei Sette Comuni by 2008. Site membership by members of the group ensures an intimate knowledge of the proposals and a deeply respectful approach towards the environment and its history. Our guides are mountain professionals recognized and enrolled in the province of Vicenza; they propose to accompany busloads of people driving tours and excursions in the territory, as required by regional law n. 33 of 11/4/2002 and according to the laws of the professional bodies of which part.
