Una mattina nel bosco passeggiata a Campolongo 13 agosto 2026

On Thursday 13 August 2026, children, teenagers and families will be able to participate in "A morning in the woods", a free walk along the San Francesco Nature Trail, in the company of Isidoro Furlan, general in reserve of the Carabinieri Forestali

The meeting is set for 9:30 am at the Campolongo di Rotzo Refuge.

The initiative will lead participants to discover the forest through a simple path of about 1 km, suitable for everyone, along which the general will teach how to recognize trees, read animal tracks and listen to the sounds of nature

A particularly interesting opportunity for young people, who will be able to approach the mountain environment with curiosity and attention, guided by the experience of those who have dedicated over forty years to the protection of the forest and naturalistic heritage.

Isidoro Furlan, former director of the State Forestry Corps, began his career at the age of 19 as a forest ranger, later becoming an officer and holding, among others, the positions of provincial commander in Verona and Vicenza. With the transfer of responsibilities to the Carabinieri Corps, he continued his service within the Carabinieri Forestali, until his retirement, with the rank of general.

The setting for the morning will be the Path of St. Francis, an itinerary created by the Campolongo Refuge in an area deeply marked by the Vaia storm of 2018. In fact, the route follows a route born from the passage of vehicles engaged in the recovery and restoration of the woods of Campolongo di Rotzo devastated by the atmospheric event.

From that wounded landscape was born a path designed to tell the story of nature's ability to regenerate itself and to invite us to observe it with greater awareness. In fact, the path offers an encounter with the flora and fauna of the mountains of the Plateau, combining the naturalistic dimension with a reflection inspired by the Canticle of the Creatures by St. Francis.

Along the way you will encounter panels carved in wood inspired by the eight steps of the Canticle, as well as sculptures and educational panels accompanied by images and reproductions dedicated to the plant and animal species that populate the woods of the Seven Municipalities.

About halfway along the itinerary you also reach a suggestive panoramic stopping point, from which, on clear days, the gaze can wander through the landscapes of the Plateau to the Brenta Dolomites.

"A morning in the woods" thus becomes a simple and engaging way to be outdoors, discovering how many stories can be read among bark, footprints, calls and small signs left by the inhabitants of the forest.

Participation is free and no reservation is required.

Simply show up by 9:30 am at the Campolongo Refuge, the meeting point and departure point of the activity.
