Andrea Vollman and Francesco Barcau present their book "the great war-British seven Municipalities plateau", in Asiago the August 11
Sunday, August 11 to Asiago the authors of the book "the great war-British seven Municipalities plateau", Andrea Vollman and Francesco Barcau, will present their work to the public.
The appointment, which will be held at the center stage of Asiago, will begin at 17:30 hours. In case of bad weather the meeting will be held at the Council Chamber.
The event will be organized in collaboration with the library laws and dreams of Asiago.
THE GREAT WAR-BRITISH SEVEN MUNICIPALITIES PLATEAU
In 1918, the Prince of Wales stay in Villa Godi in Lugo di Vicenza, and from Villaverla rises in flight on a Bristol Fighter piloted by Canadian ACE William George Barker; in 1923 the Royals of England visited the Villa, having paid tribute to the fallen British in the cemeteries of the plateau.
In 1922, Vera Brittain, famous English writer, reaches to Granezza the tomb of his brother Edward, fallen in San Sisto during the battle of Solstizio and decides that the plateau will be its final resting place; in 1970 his ashes are scattered around the tombstone by his daughter Shirley.
In Paris, a stone found in a cellar revealed an epitaph dedicated to Dinks, accidentally killed in July 1918; England and Scotland are fond of their mascot to erect a grave. Dinks was "only" a baboon. Minimal stories intertwine with famous names, unknown British military leave notes like Norman Gladden, Vera Brittain, Hugh Dalton.
The Tommies (as they were called the foot soldiers of the British Army) are fighting like lions along the Val d Assa and Caltrano, clouded by wine and whiskey, pretend to buy a policeman's hat, or drown in irrigation ditch towards London; fragments of everyday life tangled epic moments.
