Remembering Vaia: the events on the Asiago Plateau for the first anniversary of the storm

One year after Storm Vaia, several initiatives are organized on the Plateau of the Seven Municipalities to remember the environmental catastrophe of October 2018

it has been a year since the passage of "Vaia",the storm that hit and upset our Plateau on 29 October 2018, crashing millions of trees, destroying thousands of hectares of woodland and alpine habitats.

TheVeneto Crisis Unit has classified it as the worst natural disaster in recent years,a violent wave of bad weather that hit the whole of Triveneto,with a very strong hot wind of syrup that, blowing between 150 and 200 km/h for several hours, literally razed whole woods, forever changing the face of the Plateau, especially the beautiful Piana di Marcesina 

A year later,there are several initiatives organized on the Asiago Plateau to remember this catastrophic event, but also to raise awareness and reflect on the issues of climate change, biodiversity and the possibilities of rebirth of the affected areas.

🌲 ESPERATED WITH GUIDE ALTOPIANO
October 26th Marcesina Plain

On Saturday, October 26th,the Highland Guides organize an interesting guided hike on the Marcesina Plain,during which you will visit some of its enchanting woods and talk about the events related to the I World WarII, to reconstruction and the problems associated with it, obviously also referring to Storm Vaia.

🌲 CONCERT FOR VAIA WITH NIK VALENTE

October 27 SelvArt - Roana Mezzaselva

On Sunday, October 27, the SelvArtpark, hard hit by the storm last year, will act as the theater for a special Concert for Vaia.
The concert will be held at the impressive carachighelenatural amphitheater, which will be possible to reach with a pleasant walk among the artworks of the park, in the paths affected by the storm. To perform in memory of Vaia,the acclaimed singer-songwriter Nik Valente.
An opportunity to remember and reflect together on the social consequences and implications of this catastrophic event that has shocked the Plateau, between live music and tastings of Cimbra Beer and the typical high-planee products of the company agricola Frigo St.ff.

🌲 SUNSET IN MUSIC - A YEAR FROM VAIA
October 29 Asiago

An afternoon with a short excursion on the new educational path dedicated to the master Patrizio Rigoni, evocative sunset concert with Orion Sound, words and thoughts with Eros Zecchini, snack in visit to the exhibition The Sense of Vaia: this is the program for the initiative"Sunset in Malaga - A year from Vaia"that will be held on October 29,in Asiago.

🌲 ON THE TRACCE OF VAIA WITH MAURO CORONA
October 30th Roana's Cottages

Wednesday, October 30th, i.e. the evening of " On thetrail of Vaia", to reflect together and analyze the environmental situation before and after Vaia on the Plateau.

The meeting will also be attended by Mauro Corona and Matteo Righetto who with the occasion will present their new book "The Wind Pass".

The evening is organized by the Municipality of Roana in collaboration with the Giunti library of Asiago and the logistical contribution of the Pro Loco of Canove and is free entry,without reservation, until the available seats are exhausted.

🌲 MOSCOW "THE SENSE OF VAIA"
October 27th - January 6th Prisons Museum - Asiago

From 27 October 2019 to 6 January 2020,the Asiago Prisons Museum will be exhibiting "The Sense of Vaia",organized by the NaturalArtAssociation.
It is an exhibition with artistic installations by the scledense artist Paolo Ceola to remember, just a year later, the catastrophe caused by the storm Vaia and at the same time to send a message of strength and hope, for a collective and cultural rebirth of the Asiago Plateau.
