Documentary WAR of SHRUNKEN Enrico Verra Centenary world war gallium, Asiago plateau, August 8, 2014
Friday 8 August 2014 at theAuditorium of Gallio, the Asiago plateau, at 20.45 hours, on the occasion of the centenary of the great war, the documentary will be screened on war Fools folly in the trenches by Enrico Verra.
SHRUNKEN by WAR madness in the trenches
The documentary reconstructs the painful steps that led thousands of soldiers during the first world war, to face the ordeal of mental illness, after that of the trenches, of assaults, of gas and bombings.
The hallucinations, the malfunctions and motor loss of self-knowledge, unpublished form of combat shock, plagued the men of all the armies engaged in battle. The sick, accused of cowardice and betrayal by the Staffs, were sent back to the front by military doctors with electric shock and hypnotic therapies, and responded even more in plunging the depths of madness, awed and forgotten shipwrecks in history.
The interviews with experts, the archive footage found in the archives of the whole Europe, unpublished photographs and medical records of the time allow a rigorous study on one aspect so far little explored in the great war.
