Historical exhibition at the Asiago Prisons Museum from March 16 to June 30, 2019
THE MOSCOW IS STATE PROROGATA FINO TO 14 July 2019
From March 16 to June 30, 2019,at the Museum "The Prisons" in Asiago, the exhibition "Fromthe Regency to Reconstruction" will be open. The Archive Unveiled. The great project of reordering and restoring the Historical Archive of the Spectacular Regency of the Seven Municipalities and the Municipality of Asiago."
The exhibition is proposed by theMunicipal Administration of Asiago, the Department of Tourism and Culture and the Presidency of theCityCouncil, thanks to the contribution of the CariVeronaFoundation, in partnership with the Institute of Culture Cimbra and with the patronage of the Regional Council of Veneto and the Province ofVicenza.
The set-up and visual communication system were curated by the studio B. LAB design by Antonio and Roberto Busellato, the scientific contents and the selection of materials were curated by archivist Dr. Ilaria Zacchilli , by the mountain guide, middle mountain companion, Filippo Menegatti, and has been enriched by the important contributions of Dr Giancarlo Bortoli,Professor Sergio Bonato, professor Elisabeth Girardi.
This exhibition starts with the great project of reordering the archival heritage ofthe City of Asiago, started in 2009 by the Municipal Administration, through the then Assessor of Culture Roberto Rigoni Stern and continued over the years with the support of the Veneto Region and the CariVerona Foundation, through the commendable work of the archivist Dr. Giulia Turrina, carried out in close synergy with the Archives Superintendence of Veneto and Trentino South Tyrol.
The"UnveiledArchive" wants to be an opportunity for all The High-Plan citizens, educational institutions and enthusiasts, to finally discover the important archival heritage ofthe City of Asiago, which he believed lost, and, through it, the peculiar history of our territory and its institutions, from the birth of the "Spectacular Regency of the Seven Municipalities" to the Reconstruction after the Great War.
Thanks to the guide of the evocative "time line", set up along the main corridor of the museum "The Prisons", through the archival documents, will emerge the events and protagonists that have marked the history of the Asiago Plateau. In the adjoining rooms, they will open in fan, as within a large book, seven mainfocus, relating to the privileges granted to the Federation of SevenMunicipalities, the institutional structure of the Regency, the management of the agro-silvo-pastoralheritage, to the important safeguarding action carried out by the Regency on the northern borders of the Plateau, to the development prior to the First WorldWar, to the Great War and finally to reconstruction.
The absolute protagonist and privileged medium of knowledge will be the archivaldocument, which becomes a witness to the "international" relations entertained over the centuries by a small but proud federation of municipalities, with the main protagonists Venetian and European history, in the relentless search for the maintenance of one's autonomy. Autonomy, therefore, which, defended for five centuries, has been seen as the landon on which to lay the foundations for a life in balance with the delicate mountain environment, proposing an original model of federal government and collective management of the heritage agro-silvo-pastoral.
Thearchive ofthe Regency, the Seven Municipalities Consortium and the Consortium among the war-damaged for reconstruction, the photographic fund "Monti", together with the documents received from the VeniceStateArchives, from the'State Archives ofVicenza, from the BertolianaLibrary, from the Civic MuseumsFoundation, the International Gallery of Modern Art in Ca'Pesaro, they will testify to the milestones of a collective narrative along the course of seven centuries.
Starting from the first diploma of concession of privileges of Mastino della Scala (1339), thanks to the rediscovery of the dedication to the Serenissima (1405), preserved in the treasure of the Venetian pacta, which collects the most important international treaties signed by the Republic veneta, it will prove that the Federation of The Seven Municipalities was considered a real " smallstate". The Register of Deliberations of the Regents presents itself as a privileged witness to follow the adventurous journey of the last chancellor of the Regency Domenico Rigoni Stern, to the court of Vienna, in an attempt to see the ancients preserved Rights. It will therefore be possible to follow in its main stages the compelling narration of a small, great story, witnessed both by the important documents by the chancellery of the Dominants of Veneto, as well as by the minutes written by the notaries of the neighbors, the assemblies of the heads of the family, which formed the core of the institutional political system on which the small Federation of Seven Municipalities was based.
Following the end of the Regency, the archive of theConsortium of SevenMunicipalities, which inherits its important functions of management of the agro-silvo-pastoral heritage, will allow to follow the development lines of the Plateau in the1800s and the first ' 900,with the birth of the first infrastructure and touristvocation, also favored by the construction of the railwayline.
Thephoto album "Monti", made for logistical purposes by Lieutenant Renzo Monti, between 1916-1918, opens an unpublished insight into the GreatWar, in the areas behind the front and on daily military life.
The rebirth from the war destruction is documented by the project for the headquarters of the new Asiago Town Hall and the practices followed by the Consortium for reconstructions among the war-damaged of Asiago, formed by the municipal staff, who worked tirelessly to realize the "new" Asiago.
"Forthe first time, the "treasure" made up of our archival heritage can be appreciated in all its facets, thanks to the important work of reordering and the scientific contribution made by the experts appointed by the Administration municipal. It is a unique opportunity to enjoy the testimonies of that important story that every Highlander has heard from childhood and that is the foundation of our traditions" declares the President of the City Council, Michela Rodeghiero.
The exhibition will be accompanied, throughout the period of its unfolding, by important and various events, which fully take up the incredible variety of themes addressed and the many facets and variations to which the exhibition is lends: there will be a series of excursions and guided views to "theme"by the PlateauGuides, a series of conferences curated by experts and scholars that will open an in-depth debate on the many issues opened by documentary testimonies, workshops will be organized for children, modulated by age and degree of education, to bring the little ones closer to the world of the archive and cultural heritage of the Highlands, and finally, a course in calligraphywill be proposed, aimed at "beautiful to write" fans.
