Val Formica is anisland of beauty and peace to land in any season: the Refuge is open all year round,every day in summer and winter, from Thursday to Sunday in spring and autumn.

In summer it is the starting point for simple walks or more demanding excursions, along narrow streets and paths that lead you to immerse yourself in pastures and woods,or to reach the peaks of the mountains of the surroundings, of important historical and landscape importance.

Itineraries that can largely be covered also by mountain bike and, in winter, by snowshoeing.

On the snow is also beaten an itinerary that can be traveled simply with hiking boots and leads to immerse yourself in fairytale landscapes.

Val Formica is a name that intrigues and is due to the numerous anthills thatare located in these woods, as Mario Rigoni Stern also tells in "Stagioni":

"Passing by, the herdsers gave him a greeting and he answered with joy. He took the path that went down the Val Formica and understood whyit was called so, it was natural, to have thought about it: in that forest there were many anthills, even tall like him, built with coniferous needles ... "
