Malga Zebio

Malga Zebio stands about 1700m above sea level, right in the battle sites of the First World War, a short distance from the top of Mount Zebio,of which it bears its name. In the high-altitude pastures that surround it, characterized by a wide variety of herbs and mountain flowers, they freely graze the 75 dairy cows of the farm.

The hut can be reached either by car, by a dirt road (you will also find a large parking lot before the last hairpin bend), or on foot with a nice and healthy walk.

Arrived at Malga Zebio you find yourself immersed in a truly evocative atmosphere, almost of other times: a real simple and rustic malga,the cheesemaker for the production of cheese, the stable for cows and the pigsties.

The hut is closing seasonally, it will reopen for the summer season 2022.

Eating in Malaga

In Malga Zebio you can enjoy a tasty snack or a nice lunch with cheese and cured meats of your own production. A healthy walk at high altitude and the fresh air that you can breathe up here open your appetite: what could be better, then, than a genuine first course or a nice chopping board with suppressed, coldcuts and cheeses, perhaps with a side dish of polenta? To taste also the fresh ricotta with honey! And to finish a delicious homemade dessert.

In case you want to make a quick stop even a good well stuffed sandwich gives great satisfaction.

The meal can be consumed outdoors, in one of the tables with wooden benches sheltered from large umbrellas, or in the indoor room.

For those who want to buy the cheeses produced in Malga Zebio, there is a small shop on site:you can take home with you the delights made here: cold cuts, butter, tosella, ricotta,and the famous Asiago Dop Cheese. Malga Zebio is in fact associated with the Consorzio Tutela Formaggio Asiago,which guarantees the exceptional quality of Asiago cheese produced here.

The hut is open every day only in the summer period (generally from June until about October 10).

The Protected Origin Designation (DOP) is a guarantee of excellence bestowed by the European Union on a agri-food product.
In the case of Asiago cheese, it indicates that its qualities are mainly due to the geographical environment in which it is produced,including natural and human factors, and that its production, processing and processing takes place exclusively in the area of origin. Only the DOP is real Asiago cheese!
